ITS representatives, together with collaborating parties at the inauguration of the Indonesia Blockchain Center ITS Chapter
ITS Campus, ITS News — Strengthening itself as a center for technology, research, and education, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) inaugurated the Indonesia Blockchain Center (IBC) ITS Chapter on Thursday (19/12). The first branch in Indonesia is directly supported by the Dubai Blockchain Center, which is clear evidence of ITS’s contribution to efforts to improve the country’s economy.
Head of the ITS Center for Business and Industrial Public Policy Studies (in Indonesian: Pusat Kajian Kebijakan Publik Bisnis dan Industri, will be furtherly referred to as PKKPBI), Dr Ir Arman Hakim Nasution MEng explained this effort is a sustainable step in developing the blockchain ecosystem in Indonesia. Blockchain is a technology used as a digital data storage system connected with cryptography. Blockchain, along with artificial intelligence and semiconductors, is a critical point of science for Indonesia’s progress.

Furthermore, Arman said using blockchain in 12 sectors has proven effective in improving the economy, one of them in the Dubai economic ecosystem. The sectors include energy, supply chain and logistics, education, economy, transportation, digital security, urban, environment, and health. With the presence of this blockchain research center in Indonesia, Arman believes that the country’s economic growth increase of eight percent can be achieved.
The highest-level security blockchain database system strengthens this ITS Business Management Department lecturer’s confidence. The system can record all registration processes and changes to avoid fraud. “In addition, the system security keys held by many parties also form a long security chain,” added the Universitas Gadjah Mada doctoral graduate.

On the other hand, this facility, in collaboration with PT Digital Syariah Teknologi, also benefits the development of national education. ITS academics can become pioneers in developing the latest knowledge in the field of database system security in Indonesia. Thus, the level of knowledge of ITS academics can compete internationally.
To achieve this, the laboratory facility at the ITS Business Management Department opens training and internship opportunities for the students of ITS. As the mission of the IBC ITS Chapter is to equip ITS graduates with technological knowledge, technology literacy knowledge is also provided. “In the future, we will focus on blockchain development and learning,” said the pioneer of the IBC ITS Chapter optimistically.(*)
