On October 30, 2024, ITS held an opening ceremony for Japanese language classes as part of a collaborative program between the Faculty of Intelligent Electrical and Informatics Technology (ELECTICS) at ITS and the Japanese company Willtec. This event marks a significant milestone in strengthening academic and industrial relations, while also paving the way for ITS students to pursue careers in Japan.

Prof. Bambang Pramujati, S.T., M.Sc.Eng., Ph.D., the Rector of ITS, expressed high hopes for the participants of the Japanese language course. He encouraged students to fully engage in the program and improve their language proficiency. “I hope this course will help ITS students better prepare themselves for opportunities in Japan,” said Prof. Bambang during his speech.
Representing ELECTICS, Prof. Dr. Diana Purwitasari, S.Kom., M.Sc., emphasized the importance of this collaboration. “The partnership between Willtec and ITS allows us to continue developing technology in line with advancements in Japan, while also supporting our students to be better equipped for global challenges,” she stated. Prof. Diana added that this collaboration will span the next four semesters and is expected to yield mutual benefits.
The program involves students from various departments within ELECTICS, including 8 students from Informatics Engineering, 4 from Information Systems, 1 from Computer Engineering, and 1 from Biomedical Engineering. Prof. Diana also expressed her hopes that this collaboration would open more opportunities for ITS students to work at companies in Japan.
Speaking on behalf of ELECTICS students, Jeremy James from the 2022 Informatics Engineering cohort extended his gratitude to both Willtec and ITS for providing this opportunity. “We are committed to making the most of this program, and we hope this collaboration will bring significant benefits to all of us,” he said.

Willtec, which has been operating in Japan for over 15 years, shared its experience of employing foreign workers despite the challenges of recruitment in Japan. Located in Makato, Miyagi, the company continues to grow alongside its employees, regardless of age, gender, or nationality. “We look forward to seeing ITS students grow and thrive with our company,” stated a Willtec representative.
With the commencement of these Japanese language classes, ITS students are expected to acquire the necessary skills to contribute to the global industry, particularly in Japan, renowned for its technological advancements. This program is envisioned to serve as a strong bridge connecting ITS, Indonesia, and Japan, opening new career opportunities for students to advance in the future.
