Digital Learning Awards Innovation: ITS Receives Prestigious Award from UNESCO

The success of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) in developing digital-based learning has gained global recognition. On Thursday (7/12) evening, ITS received two prestigious awards in Digital Learning: one from the international body UNESCO (The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbudristek).

In the UNESCO-ICHEI Higher Education Digitalization Pioneer Case Award held in Shenzhen, China, ITS competed with 131 higher education institutions from 42 countries. ITS triumphed with its “Intelligent Learning and Smart Campus” program, the result of the ITS Academic Development Team’s hard work from 2020 to 2022. The program was led by Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Adi Soeprijanto, M.T., alongside team members such as Bagus Jati Santoso, Ph.D., Prof. Dr. rer. pol. Heri Kuswanto, M.Si., Prof. Dr. Siti Machmudah, S.T., M.Eng., Prof. Dr. Ir. Aulia Siti Aisjah, M.T., and Fadlilatul Taufany, Ph.D.

The award recognized ITS for its efforts in developing regulations, online learning infrastructure, online class incentives, online practical innovation grants, MOOC platforms, flagship intelligent learning research, and the “Digits” Red and White tablet. These initiatives demonstrated ITS’s readiness for digital learning transformation even before the pandemic hit. “ITS is the only university in Indonesia to win this award,” said Prof. Adi.

At the same time in Jakarta, ITS also received second place for the Best Digital Learning Implementation and Support Program (P3D) award from the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (Ditjen Dikti). The award was received by two teams led by Dr. Lila Yuwana and Henning Titi, M.Kom.

This achievement further solidifies ITS’s position as a pioneer in educational innovation based on technology, both nationally and internationally.

The various innovative developments that received recognition from UNESCO are programs that were planned from the start, although some were created in response to the pandemic. These include iProctor (AI-based Exam Proctoring), iAssessment (AI-based Dynamic Testing), RAISA (Medical Robot), iBoat, iCar, and several other projects.
