Tuban – ITS. The Center for Regional Potential Studies and Community Empowerment (PDPM) Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya in collaboration with the Tuban Regency Food Security, Agriculture and Fisheries Service (DKPPP) carried out the Analysis and Preparation of Food Security and Vulnerability Atlas activities. 2024. This activity is in accordance with the mandate of Law no. 18 of 2012 and Government Regulation No. 17 of 2015 concerning poverty eradication and food security. The aim of this activity is to map food vulnerability at village level. Develop recommendations for policy strategies for preventing and handling food insecurity at the village level. As well as preparing intervention action plans for programs to eradicate food insecure areas, reduce poverty, reduce stunting, and cross-sector food security development programs.
Head of PDPM ITS Dr. Sutikno, M.Sc. convey the concept of food security and nutrition. Food security consists of food availability, food access, food utilization, food vulnerability, and nutritional and health impacts. Food security is not only oriented towards providing sufficient food, but is also accompanied by efforts to increase the effectiveness of food utilization to create good nutritional status for each individual. Optimizing food utilization is not only in terms of food quality, but also avoiding infectious diseases that can disrupt growth and development and health through sufficient clean water and good environmental sanitation and hygiene conditions. This was conveyed in the initial report on the preparation of the 2024 Analysis and Compilation of Food Security and Vulnerability Atlas on Friday 25 October 2024 at the Tuban Regency Food Security, Agriculture and Fisheries Service Office (DKPPP).
Activities for Preparing Analysis and Preparation of Food Security and Vulnerability in Tuban Regency are in line with the community service road map of the Center for Regional Potential Studies and Community Empowerment (PDPM) Directorate of Research and Community Service (DRPM) Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya, namely regional government governance management and sustainable regional development. This activity is also in accordance with the sustainable development goals (SDG’s) goal number (1) eradicating poverty, goal number (2) ending hunger, goal number (3) good health and prosperity, goal number (8) decent work and economic growth, goal number (10) reducing inequality, and goal number (17) partnerships to achieve the goal.
