The ITS Postgraduate Student Association (HMP-ITS) through the ITS Library in collaboration with one of the world’s largest journal publishers in the world-based Emerald Publishing, held a workshop and training entitled “Guide to Getting Published (GGP) Workshop and Emerald Journal Platform Training” for students ITS graduate on various matters relating to the new application program from Emerald and instructions on how to get our work published in international journals. This activity was held on Thursday (11/28/19) at the Seminar Room, 2nd floor of the ITS central library building.
“E-journals subscribed to ITS must be utilized to the maximum extent possible by the academic community, we must be able to maximize their use for the need for reliable and quality scientific reference sources for research and so on, but must still be ethical in utilizing the journal. If there are things that are unclear about scientific writing and so on, our librarian can help, “said Edy Suprayitno, SS.M.Hum as the Head of ITS Library in his speech at the beginning of the event.
Furthermore, E-Resource and Mendeley training provided for these graduate students, to introduce what journals were subscribed to by ITS, how to search and how to cite an article through the Mendeley Training. The training was conducted by qualified ITS librarians, Reini Ariani and Astutik Nur Qomariah.
As the keynote speaker brought in from Emerald himself, Mr. Irwan Sukardi as the Manager of Southeast Asia. “This event aims to provide tips and tricks on how to get the final assignments of master and doctoral students published in international journals that are weighted, not trapped by predatory fake journalists. Many Indonesian write a journal, but their weakness is they don’t know which journal to go to, “said Irwan Sukardi
“Training like this is very good and useful for me and my friends, we come to know how good writing can get into international journals, especially as a doctoral student who wants a final project. My suggestion for the library is not only to provide Mendeley training, but we also want EndNote training which, according to lecturers from Malaysia, is better and easier and provides international journal articles with high Q, “said one of the participants in the Chemistry ITS S3 student, Hellna Tehubijuluw.
In general, the training participants expect is that by holding such events there will be more academics from ITS whose publications are published in international journals by following accordance with the goals and vision and mission of ITS to make ITS an international-class research university.(Yag/nrl)
