As a continuation of the previous Webinar, this 2nd webinar series has the theme “Improving the Academic Integrity of Plagiarism-Free Publication of Scientific Papers”. Many questions are often asked by related readers: Why is academic integrity in producing scientific papers very important for academics?; How to publish works plagiarism-free ethical science?; What are the strategies and techniques for writing paraphrases, citing, and references to scientific papers to avoid plagiarism?
Held on Thursday (16/6/22) this webinar starts at 09.00 until 12.00 WIB, attended by approximately 250 participants from various circles, especially the ITS Academic Civitas, Researchers, Librarians, and Library Observer Society.
This webinar aims to increase the knowledge base of the ITS academic community and the general public, especially ITS students regarding the importance of academic integrity in publishing scientific papers that are free of plagiarism to students. In addition, this webinar also aims to provide knowledge and skills about strategies and techniques for writing paraphrases, citing, and references to scientific works to avoid plagiarism.
Resource persons who are competent in their fields and have produced various articles in scientific journals share their knowledge regarding Plagiarism-Free Publication of Scientific Work. They are 1. Daniel O. Siahaan, S.Kom., M. Sc, PD.Eng. (Head of ITS Scientific Publications, Researchers, and Lecturers at the Department of Informatics Engineering, ITS); and Untung Yuwono (Chairman of the Indonesian Study Program FIB UI, Researcher, and Lecturer at the Linguistics Department, FIB UI).
The opening at the beginning of the event was guided by MC Eva Mursidah (ITS Librarian) followed by listening to the song Indonesia Raya and the ITS Hymn, then followed by remarks from the Head of the Library, Edy Suprayitno, SS, M.Hum., then the remarks from the Director of Postgraduate & ITS Academic Development , Prof. Dr.rer.pol. Heri Kuswanto, M.Sc., at the same time officially opened the webinar, “I am happy and helped by the library and I am proud because the library has been consistent in organizing events that are beneficial for students, especially postgraduate students,” said the professor who was once the youngest professor of ITS year 2021 ago. The group photo session was held after Professor Heri delivered his opening remarks.
Guided by Moderator Mizati Dewi Wasdiana, S.Hum. (ITS librarian) it can be concluded that the essence of the Webinar Presentation and Discussion is to provide insight into the importance of the academic integrity of plagiarism-free scientific publications for students and to equip them with techniques for writing paraphrases, citing, and references to scientific works to avoid plagiarism. Provide tips and tricks to avoid plagiarism in the publication of scientific works that will be and are being carried out by them. (yag)
