On February 17, 2025, a team of librarians and staff from the ITS Library conducted a benchmarking activity to two leading universities, namely the Library of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) and the Library of Universitas Ciputra. This activity aimed to improve the quality of ITS library services through networking, knowledge sharing, and strengthening cooperation between universities.
The activity began with a visit to the Unair Library, which was warmly welcomed by the library staff. This visit felt very special because in addition to discussing library systems and management, the ITS Library team also met with some old friends who had previously worked together. The atmosphere of friendship was very strong, creating opportunities to share experiences and expand professional networks.
On this occasion, the ITS Library team delved deeper into the use of INLISLite, an integrated library management information system. Detailed explanations about this system were provided by Mr. Prasetya, who explained how INLISLite can facilitate the management of library collections and improve services to users. In addition, Mrs. Suhernik, the Head of the Unair Library, also provided an explanation of the strategies and innovations implemented at the Unair Library, creating a more dynamic environment to support the academic needs of the campus community.
The team then continued their journey to the Library of Universitas Ciputra. Upon arrival, Mr. Abil, the Head of the Universitas Ciputra Library and his staff, warmly welcomed the team with great enthusiasm. Here, the ITS Library team obtained various information about the Maker Space implemented in the Ciputra Library. Maker Space is an area designed to provide more comfort to users, with facilities that support creativity and collaboration among students.
The ITS Library team was very inspired by the Maker Space concept, which allows users to be more free in experimenting and learning. The ITS librarians and staff felt that this activity was very beneficial, as it provided new insights into the management of a more interactive and innovative library space.
This benchmarking activity was not only an opportunity to acquire new knowledge, but also to strengthen friendship and cooperation between libraries in Indonesia. By sharing knowledge and experiences, it is expected that each library can complement each other and work together to develop and provide the best services to the academic community. ( onemoreITS)
