Opening a New Chapter: Excellence Services Training for the ITS Library

Surabaya, January 6, 2025 – The Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) through the ITS Library has held an in-house training titled “Strengthening Excellence Services Competence for Library Human Resources” on Monday, January 6, 2025. The event was attended by all educational staff (tendik) of the ITS Library.

According to the Head of the ITS Library, Mr. Agus Agsan, M.Med.Kom., this training is to improve the quality of excellent service to library users. “The librarian profession requires solid knowledge, skills, and experience in service management. Therefore, we feel the need to hold this training,” he said.

In the training that lasted for 4 hours, participants were given various modules covering “Excellence Management Services”, “Business Etiquette”, “Interpersonal Communication”, and “Effective Communication”. These materials were presented by Putjok Rizaldy, M.Med.Kom, M.M., a public speaker, communication and business lecturer, as well as an experienced consultant and entrepreneur. The training was packaged with 20% theory and 80% practice.

According to Putjok Rizaldy, the materials presented in this training are not only theoretical but also practical. “We not only provide theories about excellent service, but also give practical tips and tricks that can be applied by librarians in their daily lives,” he said.

One of the training participants, Astutik Nur Qomariyah, M.Hum., said that the materials presented were very relevant to their duties and responsibilities as librarians. “This training provided a lot of new insights, especially regarding the importance of building effective communication with library users who have diverse backgrounds and characteristics,” she said.

Meanwhile, Davi Wahyuni, S.Sos., also appreciated the organization of this training. “I feel very helped by the tips and tricks given to improve our professional appearance as librarians. Going forward, we hope to apply the knowledge gained to provide excellent service to library users,” she expressed.

The in-house training on “Strengthening Excellence Services Competence for Library Human Resources” is one of the efforts of the ITS Library to improve the quality of human resources (HR) to achieve the vision of becoming a “Knowledge and Happiness Centre” for the ITS academic community. It is hoped that this training can have a positive impact on improving excellent service at the ITS Library. (onemoreITS)
