ITS Library – The success of research is inseparable from solid collaboration between various parties. This is evident from the research conducted by the ITS Library team that successfully analyzed the phenomenon of Library Anxiety among ITS students.
The research, funded through the ITS Research Fund Scheme Batch 1 in 2024, was led by Astutik Nur Qomariyah, S.Sos., M.Hum., along with a team consisting of Eva Mursidah, S.I.Pust. and Iwan Juniarto, S.E. Furthermore, this research received special guidance from Dr. Kartika Nuswatara, M.Pd., who provided valuable direction and input throughout the research process.
“We are very fortunate to collaborate with various parties in this research. Students were very cooperative in responding to our survey, while support from the supervising lecturer greatly assisted us in research methodology,” said Astutik Nur Qomariyah as the lead researcher.
The research, involving 100 students from various educational levels, successfully identified several main factors causing student anxiety when using the library. Interestingly, the results showed that facility comfort aspects became the factor with the highest anxiety level, while interaction with library staff received positive feedback from students.
Iwan Juniarto added, “This finding opens our eyes that students are actually comfortable interacting with librarians. What we need to improve are the physical facilities and ease of access to digital services.”
As a follow-up to this research, the library team has developed several strategic recommendations to improve service quality. “We plan to integrate more digital services with the MyITS system and add power outlets and comfortable discussion spaces for students,” explained Eva Mursidah.
Dr. Kartika Nuswatara welcomed the results of this research. “The collaboration between librarians, students, and lecturers in this research shows ITS’s commitment to improving academic service quality. Hopefully, the library can become a more comfortable space that supports student learning activities,” she concluded.
This research proves that good collaboration between various campus elements can produce beneficial studies for library service development. Going forward, ITS Library is committed to continuously improving service quality based on input from all academic community members.
