RESEARCH GRANT

Description

Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) is an international class university that contributes to creating innovation and producing quality products. Referring to the ITS Development Master Plan (RENIP) 2015-2040, there are 5 stages of achievement in 5 years. ITS targets to become a research-based university in 2025, and an entrepreneurial university in 2035. In line with this target, a sustainable research-based innovation downstreaming ecosystem needs to be created.

To achieve this goal, ITS has a program to improve the quality and quantity of research conducted by researchers on campus. In this program, ITS creates a table of research indicators and targets to determine the direction and focus of research to be conducted. In the ITS RENIP 2020, as shown in Table 1.1, this is important because by determining the direction and focus of research, researchers can produce work that is more meaningful and relevant to the needs of society and industry.

In addition, ITS, through the Higher Education for Technology and Innovation Project (HETI)-Asian Development Bank (ADB) and PIU, plays an important role as an “accelerator” in research, innovation, and entrepreneurship. This collaboration aims to provide the necessary support and facilities for ITS researchers who want to develop their research results into products that are beneficial to society.

To increase the added value of research results, ITS also integrates the roles of the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DRPM) and the Directorate of Innovation and Science and Technology Park (DIKST) in the process of downstreaming research results.

Through HETI-ADB, ITS also has the opportunity to manage research, innovation, and entrepreneurship grants that will be launched under the name of Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Grant. ITS provides grants for lecturers to collaborate with industry partners related to ITS’s leading/specialized fields. This grant is expected to produce knowledge and innovation that is relevant to industry through strengthening research capacity.
