Surabaya, 8 July 2020,
Halal certification involves three parties, namely BPJPH, LPPOM MUI as a halal inspection agency (LPH), and MUI. The Halal Product Guarantee Agency (abbreviated BPJPH) is in charge of implementing the implementation of halal product guarantees under the provisions of laws and regulations. LPPOM MUI conducts document adequacy checks, audit scheduling, audit implementation, audit meetings, issues audit memorandums, and submits minutes of audit results at MUI Fatwa Commission meetings. MUI, through the Fatwa Commission, determines the halalness of products based on the results of the audit and issues the MUI Halal Decree.
The ITS Halal Community Engagement Center, in collaboration with the Nahdhatul Ulama University Surabaya (UNUSA), the Surabaya Nahdhatul Ulama Association (ISNU), and the Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Study Institute of the Indonesian Ulema Council (LPPOM MUI) have held a Webinar on Halal Certification Procedures and the Assurance System Halal on 8 JULY 2020, online.
The training aims to determine the duties and authorities of each party (BPJPH, LPH, and MUI) as well as halal certification procedures for business actors. The speakers who attended were Prof. Iwan Vanany (ITS Industrial Engineering), and Viera Nuriza Pratiwi, MSc (Halal Auditor of LPH UNUSA) and moderated by Maharani Pertiwi PhD (Chairman of LPH UNUSA).
