Sustainable Halal Towards a Future

[Surabaya, August 23, 2024] – The Surabaya Halal Festival (SHF) 2024, which lasted for three days (August 21-23) in the Surabaya City square, was held with great enthusiasm. This event is a collaboration between the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) and the Surabaya City Government. The festival, themed “Sustainable Halal Towards a Future”, was officially opened by the Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi.

Eri emphasized that this event not only functions as a means to promote halal products, but also provides training for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the City of Surabaya.

The Chairperson of the SHF 2024 Committee, Riva Siregar, who is also the General Chairperson of the ITS Manyar Alumni Association (IKA), explained that more than 5,000 visitors attended the closing of the SHF and the turnover during SHF 2024 reached IDR 150 million per day.

Vice Rector IV for Research, Innovation, Cooperation, and ITS Alumni, Agus Muhamad Hatta, stated that the Surabaya Halal Festival had been well organized and succeeded in mobilizing various elements in society. Community concern and participation are very important in supporting the government’s program in halal certification. “Hopefully this activity can inspire, develop, and be sustainable,” added Vice Rector Hatta. This event was held to welcome the 2024 Java Sharia Economic Festival (FESyar) (September) and the 2024 Indonesia Sharia Economy Festival (ISEF) (October). The benefits of participating in this festival include getting more information and more knowledge from other MSME players, as well as being able to meet many potential investors
