TENTANG KAMI

Pusat Penelitian Sains Fundamental (Puslit SF) didirikan pada tahun 2011 dengan nama Pusat Studi (Pusdi) Sains, yang merupakan salah satu Pusdi di bawah Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (LPPM) ITS. Pada perioda Rektorat 2011 – 2015, Pusdi Sains sempat memperkenalkan konsep pembelajaran untuk sekolah menengah bidang Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (MIPA) dengan nama “STEM (sains, teknologi, engineering dan matematika)”. Pada perioda Rektorat 2015 – 2019, Pusdi Sains digabung menjadi satu dengan Pusdi Material dan Nano Teknologi, menjadi Pusdi Sains, Material dan Nano Teknologi. Seiring dengan terbentuknya Fakultas Sains dan Analitika Data (FSAD), serta dalam upaya mewadahi para peneliti di tataran “fundamental”, maka pada tahun 2020 dibentuklah Pusat Penelitian Sains Fundamental, yang anggotanya adalah peneliti dari seluruh departemen di ITS, dengan mayoritas berasal dari FSAD ITS.

Berada di bawah naungan Direktorat Riset dan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (DRPM) ITS, Puslit Sains Fundamental terlibat dalam penelitian ilmiah terkini pada semua bidang sains fundamental, yang mengarah pada penemuan pengetahuan baru dan penciptaan perspektif baru tentang metode dan material. Berdasarkan hasil penemuan (invensi) tersebut, penelitian selanjutnya diarahkan pada terciptanya suatu prototype yang memiliki nilai komersial tinggi, sehingga produk penelitian dari Puslit Sains Fundamental merupakan suatu inovasi yang termasuk dalam Prioritas Riset Nasional 2020-2024. Oleh karena itu, topik penelitian dari Puslit Sains Fundamental diselaraskan dengan apa yang menjadi tantangan dan kebutuhan Indonesia saat ini dan menonjolkan potensi sumber daya yang dimiliki Indonesia, sesuai dengan paparan Menteri Riset Teknologi/Kepala Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional.

Puslit Sains Fundamental memiliki anggota peneliti yang berasal dari beberapa departemen di ITS, dengan mayoritas berasal dari semua departemen di FSAD ITS. Adapun strata pendidikan peneliti meliputi Magister dan Doktor dengan jabatan fungsional mulai Asisten Ahli sampai Profesor dengan bidang keilmuan yang terkait sesuai dengan topik penelitian.
