Formulation of the institutional arrangement for growth pole region, formulation of the Transportation Infrastructure Analysis for Interregional interaction in each designated zones, gap analysis in Transportation infrastructures and accessibility/mobility performances, projecting the transportation demand, infrastructure needs that connecting the production, collection and distribution activity centers in the region, and accessibility profile of the zones.
Formulation of the criteria for port hinterland area for major ports, collection ports, regional feeder ports, and local feeder ports. The results highlight the importance of port hinterland areas to support port performance optimally. Research recommended six main criteria, consisted of hinterland economic potential, hinterland transportation potential, hinterland social demographic potential, environmental constraints, risk management, and spatial and port policy. These six factors are outlined in 35 sub-criteria for assessing the feasibility of a port hinterland. Research also found the salient criteria for all port classes, in general, included the spatial policy, the hinterland status as a strategic area, port policy, and suitability of hinterland as the activity center in the region.
