ITS Community Service Encourages Branding of Pesanggrahan Village Coffee for Farmers’ Welfare

The opening ceremony of Abmas Community Service in Pesanggrahan Village, Batu City, East Java.Batu, ITS News – Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) has commenced one of its Community Service activities (Abmas) with the theme “Empowering Village Communities for Branding of Coffee Commodities and Products in Pesanggrahan Village, Batu District, Batu City, East Java.” The opening ceremony of this Abmas program was held at Pesanggrahan Village Hall on Monday (July 31).

The aim of this program is to raise awareness of the potential of local coffee branding and strengthen the values and quality of coffee products in the region. In an effort to capitalize on the increasing interest of consumers in coffee as a lifestyle and cultural identity, ITS Abmas is committed to implementing effective branding and marketing strategies to enhance the image and values of local coffee products in every region in Indonesia.

Dr. Melania Suweni Muntini, M.T., Chair of the ITS SDGs Study Center, expressed gratitude to the Pesanggrahan Village authorities for their warm welcome and granting permission for the implementation of the Community Service program in the village.

Melania hopes that the Community Service students can make a significant contribution to the Pesanggrahan Village community, particularly in introducing the distinctive branding potential of the area’s coffee.

“We believe that with good collaboration, the development of local coffee can become a driver of prosperity for farmers in this region,” she added.

One of the Abmas programs, under the guidance of Lucky Putri Rahayu, S.Si., M.Si., is product digitalization, where students will develop web and Android-based applications to introduce Pesanggrahan coffee products to a wider audience.

“In doing so, we hope that Pesanggrahan coffee can attract more consumers and enhance the local economic potential,” said Lucky.

Imam Wahyudi, S.Pd., the head of Pesanggrahan Village, welcomed the enthusiasm for the Community Service activities and stated, “We are delighted to have community service in Pesanggrahan Village, especially in efforts to enhance coffee branding.”

Imam Wahyudi also expressed hope that the presence of ITS students can assist our coffee farmers in promoting Pesanggrahan coffee products and making them more widely known in local and global markets. He believes that with hard work and collaborative spirit, they can achieve shared goals in improving the welfare of coffee farmers in Pesanggrahan Village.

Following this, training on digital marketing and product digitalization will be conducted to help enhance coffee product branding in Pesanggrahan Village. Additionally, English language and organizational skills training will be provided to the youth or “karang taruna” in Pesanggrahan Village.

The Community Service team will also aid in organizing and making the 17th of August 2023 celebration in Pesanggrahan Village a success, as well as participating in village activities such as community work.

With a collaborative spirit and hard work, the ITS Community Service team hopes to have a positive impact on the Pesanggrahan Village community through the development of coffee branding and the improvement of local farmers’ welfare. (id)
