ITS Campus, ITS News – Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS)‘s dedication to the development of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in the fields of water, energy, and agriculture is increasing. Due to this dedication, ITS succeeded in becoming the 3rd best university in Indonesia’s SDGs Action Award 2023 at the SDGs Annual Conference 2023 in Jogjakarta, on Monday (6/11).
ITS Chancellor Prof Dr Ir Mochamad Ashari MEng IPU AEng said that this award was the first time for ITS in Indonesia’s SDGs Action Award event. This annual award has been held twice by the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas).
Ashari also expressed his gratitude for the dedication of the ITS academic community and especially the ITS SDGs Study Center which has contributed to carrying out activities regarding the SDGs. These include the installation of Solar Power Generation (PLTS) technology in various village economic centers, as well as community service in the fields of agriculture, water, and energy which succeeded in delivering ITS this award.
Furthermore, the ITS Electrical Engineering alumnus admitted that currently there are still SDGs activities at ITS that have not had time to be properly integrated. He also hopes that with this award, activities that have not been integrated can be organized and carried out together to get the best results. “God willing, next year, if we work together, the activities that have been designed can provide the best results for ITS,” said the bespectacled man optimistically.
Meanwhile, on this occasion, the Minister of National Development Planning/Bappenas of the Republic of Indonesia, Suharso Monoarfa, appreciated ITS and various parties who had shown their best performance in this Indonesia SDGs Action. He hopes that this conference and award can trigger and redefine his commitment to achieving the SDGs by continuing to play an active role. “Let’s protect water and the earth and use energy wisely as a legacy for future generations,” he said when opening the 2023 SDGs Annual Conference.
