Double Degree program for Bachelor degree in Marine Engineering is held by colaboration between Department of Marine Engineering – ITS with Hochschule Wismar University – Germany and Semarang Growth Centre (SGC), according to the “persetujuan Menteri Pendidikan Nasional melalui Surat Dirjen DIKTI Kemdiknas, Nomor 433/E/T/2011″, On 1 April 2011.
The program curriculum, with 8 (eight) semester study periods, is structured to meet the needs of professional engineers who have managerial skills who can connect between shipyard companies in engineering skills and the company’s technical management aspects. In general, the program curriculum is based on DIKTI and ITS standards with equalization to the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).
Lecture materials and syllabus are prepared by giving special emphasis to comprehensive understanding of Basic Naval Architecture and Shipbuilding, Ship Machinery, Electrical & Automation, Technical Survey & Inspection, Maritime Business, and relevant Standards. In addition, the program curriculum is very concerned about the aspects of character for the student, integrity and soft-skills of students.
The increasing need for Marine Superintendents with international qualifications today, and the lack of availability of human resources in the marine sector in developed countries both in Asia, Australia and Europe are one of the important considerations for the opening of this double degree program.
The Double Degree Program in Marine Engineering, which is fully held at ITS, is flexibly designed to be completed within 8 (eight) semesters, with teaching staff from ITS and Hochschule Wismar University – Germany. For students who are planning to gain hands-on learning experience at the Hochschule Wismar University – Germany, they can continue their education at the Hochschule Wismar University – Germany for the last 2 (two) semesters, the conditions of which will be arranged later
Graduates of the Double Degree (Bachelor) Program in Marine Engineering will obtain a certificates and Bachelor of Engineering (S.T.) degree from ITS and a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) from Hochschule Wismar University – Germany.
