The STKK Research Center (Marine & Earth Science and Technology) and DRPM (Directorate of Research and Community Service) ITS are committed to increasing contributions in the earth and marine fields by intensifying research and scientific research discussion.

The DRPM and STKK research teams realized this, one of which was through dialogue and discussion on the biofouling effect with researchers Jelle Sebastian and Isnain Aliman from Melbourne University Australia, Tuesday (10/01).

Biofouling is the attachment of marine animals, such as barnacles, to hard surfaces submerged in seawater. This biofouling effect impacts many aspects, including slowing the ship’s speed.

After the discussions held in the DRPM building, researchers will continue their research on the Sinar Morotai ship sailing from Cilegon to Belawan.

With this research in the field of biofouling, it is hoped that it can be one of the positive steps in an effort to achieve STKK’s vision of optimizing the utilization of maritime resources with innovation and technology.
