Display of the BENGCARE application which helps connect consumers with recommended repair shops
ITS Campus, ITS News — The mismatch in price and quality in choosing a workshop is certainly a dilemma for the public as consumers. Realizing this, a team of students from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) created an application called BENGCARE, a digital platform that connects the public with recommended workshops.
It was five students from the ITS Informatics Engineering Department, namely Adrian, Gabrielle Immanuel Osvaldo Kurniawan, Darren Prasetya, Muhammad Naufal Badruttamam, and Riski Ilyas who created this application together. The five of them are members of the Bangkit Academy Capstone Project team along with two students from other universities.
BENGCARE Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Darren Prasetya explained that Bangkit Academy is a career readiness program initiated by Google, GoTo, Tokopedia, and Traveloka, with the aim of forming high-quality technical talent in Indonesia. This program is designed to equip students with the skills needed in the technology field, such as software engineering, data science, and machine learning. Meanwhile, the Capstone Project is an application creation project carried out by Bangkit Academy Program participants in the form of teams.
Regarding BENGCARE itself, Darren explained that this application is a platform that was born from public concern. According to a survey conducted by his team, 40 percent of Indonesians admitted to feeling hesitant in choosing a repair shop because of the inappropriate price factor. “In addition, the low quality factor also plays a role in supporting public concern about workshops in Indonesia,” said Darren.
Some features of BENGCARE, a digital platform that connects people with recommended workshops
Armed with these two factors, Darren and his team then designed BENGCARE with several solution-oriented features that can answer people’s concerns. One of them is the Bengkel Recommendation feature which is the main weapon of the BENGCARE application. As the name implies, this feature allows people to get information about recommended workshops around them.
Darren explained that the Bengkel Recommendation feature offers access to check service history, ratings, prices, and the right keywords for each existing workshop. This feature makes it easier for users to ensure the reputation of the workshop and its suitability to their needs.
In addition to these features, Darren also introduced the Unkel feature which is one of the unique selling points of the BENGCARE application. This feature is an informative chatbox that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) Assistant as its guide. In this feature, users can ask for various information about workshops such as damage identification, maintenance period predictions, and how to repair motor vehicles.
The BENGCARE team designing and discussing advanced features in their applicationNot stopping at user features, Darren also said that BENGCARE provides features for workshops that join. One of them is the Point of Sales (POS) feature which is a financial management system based on sales. “This feature provides analytical data on the amount of income, expenses, and operational quality of the workshop,” explained Darren.
This feature is further enhanced with plans to develop a mechanic management system feature and AI Assistant specifically for workshops in the future. The plan is that the BENGCARE application can also be accessed on the Google Playstore for free. Darren hopes that the BENGCARE application can connect customers and workshops and ensure good operational quality in the workshop sector in Indonesia. (ITS PUBLIC RELATIONS)
