Kampung Lawas Maspati is a tourist destination with a variety of potentials that are interesting to visit. Located on Maspati Street, Surabaya, this village is designed with historical atmosphere. By empowering the creativity of the community, this village has succeeded in presenting various facilities, such as reading parks, culinary centers, catfish breeding, and urban farming for visitors. Although it has been transformed into an attractive tourist destination, this village still has various obstacles in operational management and promotion.
Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) through Information Systems Department involving nine students also provide knowledge related to the use of social media to optimize the promotion of Kampung Lawas Maspati. The training was given intensively to youth organizations that manage social media. Using mobile phone applications for simple design and editing, the training, which has started since May 2023, is expected to improve the ease of access to information, marketing efficiency, and effectiveness of operational management. These improvements are made to help the village become a digital village that prioritizes effectiveness and profitability.
Additionally, the head of village in Kampung Lawas Maspati felt helped by this community service program. He hopes that with the training provided, innovations, the empowerment of the young generation here can be maximized through the existing social media will be born to develop tourist destination, especially from the local youth organization.
