Community, cultural and natural resource empowerment is carried out by the Abmas KKN Team in several areas in Indonesia which aims to preserve the environment and culture. The team consists of different study majors who collaborated to improve the community’s economy.
In Tihingan, Bali, the tourism sector is expanded by increasing community and cultural empowerment. Therefore, KKN Abmas created distinctive merchandise and souvenir designs to attract tourists. There are four outputs from this project which is to design the signature Tihingan Village merchandise and souvenirs, the second stages is developing the merchandise and souvenirs, next stage is the production stage of mock up merchandise and souvenirs, and last, the branding concept for the Tihingan Tourism Village business unit.
While in Tlangoh Beach, the team developed coastal environmental restoration technology with an artificial coral reef called Hexareef to reduce abrasion which has worsened in the past few years and has disrupted the economy of the surrounding community. Based on previous research, the hexagon shape of Hexareef has been proven to be more effective in resisting waves compared to other models. The 15 Hexareef units will function as natural coastal protection by reducing the energy of incoming waves, thereby creating relatively calm sea currents. This allows sedimentation due to the presence of Hexareef.
