The issue of sexual violence in higher education environments is a pressing concern globally, including in Indonesia. By 2022, ITS has officially inaugurated 21 members of the Task Force (Satgas) for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS). The establishment of the PPKS task force was marked by the issuance of the Decree of the Rector of Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November Number 1806/IT2/T/HK.00.01/2022 concerning the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence within the Campus Environment.
This is one of ITS’s commitments to create a safe campus from sexual violence based on the Regulation of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Permendikbudristek) Number 30 of 2021 concerning PPKS in a higher education environment. The Task Force team, which has been officially in charge since the 3rd of October, consists of seven lecturers, three educational staff, and 11 students as the representatives of each faculty in ITS.
By addressing sexual violence comprehensively and holding perpetrators accountable, ITS is fostering a culture of respect and equality. Through continued efforts, these initiatives are ensuring justice for survivors and shaping a future where every student can pursue education without fear, empowering them to reach their full potential in a secure environment.
