One strategy to achieving the SDGs is to build a building with an environmentally friendly design. Green building is one of the concepts of environmentally friendly buildings. Green building concepts promote resource efficiency, energy conservation, and environmentally friendly materials. These constructions are designed to reduce carbon emissions, reduce energy consumption, and improve interior air quality, resulting in healthier and more environmentally responsible structures. Green buildings provide more than just direct environmental advantages; they also save money in the long run. These structures often need less energy for heating, cooling, and maintenance, resulting in lower operational expenses.
ITS Rector’s Statement Letter in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The purpose of the ITS Rector’s Statement Letter is to develop ITS into a campus that adheres to sustainable and environmentally friendly principles, thereby contributing to the achievement of the SDGs. Green building features included in the construction and renovation of buildings at ITS include buildings with:
- Natural lighting
- Natural air circulation
- Heat load reduction in buildings
- Overhangs in all ITS buildings
- Design the east-west layout of buildings on the ITS Campus.
- The facade has two skins.
- The vertical garden
- Water conservation
- Solar cell installation as a sustainable energy source in the ITS building
- Construction of buildings above ground to collect rainwater
