Simultaneously, throughout Indonesia, the Lembaga Tes Masuk Perguruan Tinggi (LTMPT) or the Institute for Higher Education Entrance Test, officially announced the results of the Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri (SNMPTN) or the National Selection of Higher Education Enrollment, on Tuesday (29/3) at 15.00 WIB. In this selection, ITS accepted 1,189 registrants spread across various departments. Moreover, The Mechanical Engineering Department kept the policy the same as the previous year, prioritizing female applicants on the SNMPTN pathway.
ITS Surabaya continuously monitors women’s application rate, acceptance rate and study completion rate through Directorate of Education and provides the data yearly.
ITS with its “Advancing Humanity” motto is committed to contributing to the achievement of SDGs by becoming a sustainable and environmentally friendly campus. The commitment is shown by the establishment of the Rector’s Statement Letter in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The admission process for new students at ITS provides opportunities and convenience for anyone interested. This year, ITS has accepted a total of 1,189 new students who successfully passed the selection. Interestingly, in an effort to enhance diversity and gender equality, the Department of Mechanical Engineering at ITS has given special priority to female applicants through the SNMPTN.
Department of Business Management (MB) Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) organized training to support the creation of reliable women entrepreneurs. The activity, which collaborates with the School of Business Monash University Malaysia, aims to encourage the economic progress of women entrepreneurs. The Business Scale-Up Training for Women Entrepreneurs activity provides opportunities for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to develop their businesses. The training consisted of participants with diverse business backgrounds so that they could exchange experiences to discuss how to deal with business problems.
WiSci Camps were again held offline, and Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) was chosen as one of the American Corners from Indonesia, along with Bandung and Pontianak. WiSci Camps is a safe, supportive environment for participants to develop. The event involves the participation of 70 female students from three different countries: Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia. Working directly with Intel, WiSci Camps involves them in an Intel Future Skills Activity session. This particular session was conducted four times with a variety of different activities. WiSci Camps also embedded three Leadership Activities. Namely, participants can understand the importance of forming a leadership spirit through practical material in discussion sessions with the participants. Participants in each country were also required to form a group to prepare a Final Project.

Recognizing the significance of empowering women in fields where their presence is traditionally limited, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) has launched substantial efforts to encourage female applicants actively through extensive university outreach activities and collaborative ventures with other academic institutions, community organizations, government bodies, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Satgas PPKS ITS provides education to the academic community regarding sexual violence and has a working system that maintains the privacy of the reporter and victims. They also collaborate with the national commission and have a competent team, including psychologists, ready to support the victims. They encourage the academic community to report cases of sexual violence and ensure confidentiality in the handling process.
Committed to contributing to the achievement of SDGs by becoming a prevention and handling of sexual violence in the ITS environment. The commitment is shown by the establishment of the Rector’s Statement Letter in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
In principle, ITS Surabaya applies non-discrimination policy on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, age or national origin in the students enrollment as well as recruitment of employees. The policy of non-discrimination against all including women is written under the ITS Statute No.54/2015, specifically in Paragraph 2, Article 18, concerning Students Enrollment.
Through the Regulation of ITS Rector No. 2 Year 2017 about Employment at ITS, ITS Surabaya applies non-discrimination policy on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, or any background difference within the working environment at ITS.
ITS strives to provide protection and welfare for female employees and students on maternity leave, miscarriage, and other related conditions. ITS ensures protection and well-being for women experiencing such circumstances. A discussion of maternity and paternity policies that support women’s participation, including leaves for pregnancy, childbirth, miscarriage, and similar matters is contained in Chapter IX “Leave”, Pages 8-13.
Through this regulation, ITS ensures that women have equal opportunities and rights as men. Additionally, ITS enables women to balance their academic and personal lives without sacrificing their academic performance or career prospects. Discussions related to maternity and paternity policies that support women’s participation, including maternity leave, childbirth, miscarriage, and similar matters are found in Chapter VII “Study Leave”, Article 11, Point 1.
ITS Surabaya provides highly accessible childcare facilities for students, faculty, and staff, particularly for new mothers who wish to continue their studies and work without worrying about childcare. These childcare facilities are well-designed and strategically located within the university campus area.
ITS Kindergarten and Playgroup are provided for children of ITS staff, lecturers, and students. This Kindergarten was established based on Decree Number 444/I04.1/DS/2000 and had an operational permit with SK number 421.1/1067/436.7.1/2018. ITS Kindergarten and Playgroup has 5 teaching staff, 1 admin staff and 50 students. Not only that, ITS Kindergarten also has facilities such as a library, hall and playground. The curriculum development of teaching at Playgroup and Kindergarten “Sepuluh Nopember” Surabaya incorporates the utilization of programmable robots.

Girl Up at ITS is a vibrant and empowering community that promotes gender equality, leadership, and education among young women. This initiative within Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) creates a supportive space where female students can unite, share experiences, and inspire each other. Girl Up encourages educational opportunities, advocacy for girls’ rights, and active participation in social initiatives. Through workshops, discussions, and awareness campaigns, members of Girl Up at ITS actively work towards breaking gender barriers and fostering a more inclusive environment within the university. This movement nurtures leadership skills among female students and fosters a sense of solidarity and empowerment, shaping the next generation of confident and compassionate leaders.In 2022, Girl Up has several activities, including “beYOUtiful” and “Dismantling Rape Culture: Stop Normalizing the Normalized”. These workshops and talk shows are held in an effort to provide a safe space for victims and increase public awareness to stop normalizing all forms of sexual harassment.

Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) conducts measurement and tracking for the likelihood for all students. In this process, the university also monitors and tracks women’s likelihood of graduating compared to men’s, and schemes in place to close any gap. The tracking is regularly done at the university level (through the Directorate of Education), faculty, and department levels.
