TEAMING UP WITH SMKN 10 MALANG, THE VOCATIONAL FACULTY OF ITS DEVELOPS THE SPIRIT OF VOCATIONAL EDUCATION

ITS Campus, Vokasi News – Vocational education plays an important role in the development of human resources as it implements knowledge directly through practice. Recognizing this, the Vocational Faculty of the Institute of Technology Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) invited students and teachers from SMKN 10 Malang through a College Visit activity on Tuesday (10/1/2023).

Demographic bonus can bring a series of positive impacts if the skills of the working-age workforce are prepared early on. To that end, the Vocational Faculty of ITS fully facilitates its students to be able to adapt and become skilled players in the industry. Seeing the advantages that exist, the Vocational Faculty of ITS invited SMKN 10 Malang to give enlightenment and instill the spirit of vocational education to the students through the College Visit.

The College Visit is a routine activity that is carried out by the Vocational Faculty of ITS every year in order to introduce the education system, academic atmosphere, and student activities of the Vocational Faculty of ITS to high school students. This activity is expected to provide a comprehensive view of vocational education at ITS. Indeed, this activity received a positive response from teachers and students of SMKN 10 Malang on Tuesday (10/1). Approximately 50 students from SMKN 10 Malang along with accompanying teachers had the opportunity to take a deeper look at the Vocational Faculty of ITS through the visit. Beyond expectations, students from SMKN 10 Malang had a high interest in continuing studies based on vocational education. Taking place in Room BB 203 of the Department of Industrial Mechanical Engineering, the visit was also attended directly by the Vice Dean of the Vocational Faculty of ITS, Dr. Ir. Bambang Sampurno, M.T.

To accommodate this, during the College Visit, students were given an overview of the Vocational Faculty of ITS. It began by introducing the history of the Vocational Faculty of ITS, what majors are available at the Vocational Faculty of ITS, and the series of achievements achieved by the students of the Vocational Faculty of ITS.

It is proven that the Department of Instrumentation Engineering of the Vocational Faculty of ITS is ranked second in terms of the most achievements in ITS. This is in line with the Vocational Faculty of ITS’ slogan “Professional, Real Work, Champion”. This indicates that the Vocational Faculty of ITS is indeed superior and able to compete with other faculties at ITS.

Through this activity, the students of SMKN 10 Malang also received an overview of the departments available at the Vocational Faculty of ITS, it is hoped that they already have an idea of what they will study later in that major and are confident in choosing to continue their studies at the Vocational Faculty of ITS. “College in vocation is fun. Not only academically, but here there are many supporting facilities such as soccer fields, canteens, and others,” said Mr. Bambang during the visit of SMKN 10 Malang.
