The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Industrial Technology and System Engineering, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember has a laboratory dedicated to solid mechanics. The laboratory focuses on the design, analysis of structures, and material strength under static and dynamic loading conditions. It has formed productive partnerships with various companies in the energy, transport, and manufacturing sectors, with a particular focus on medical devices, electric vehicles, and materials handling equipment.

Salah satu dosen Lab. Mekanika Benda Padat, Achmad Syaifudin, Ph.D meraih beasiswa PostDoc dari Ernst Mach – ASEA-UNINET Short-term Research Grant, selama 2 bulan.
ASEA-UNINET mendukung pertukaran pengetahuan antara universitas mitra di negara-negara anggota di Eropa dan Asia Tenggara. Kegiatan utama dari jaringan ini adalah pertukaran ilmuwan dan transfer pengetahuan. Pendanaan ini diselenggarakan oleh OeAD-GmbH/MPC bekerja sama dengan ASEA-UNINET (atas nama dan dibiayai oleh Kementerian Sains dan Penelitian Federal Austria – BMBWF). Supervisor yang menerima Achmad Syaifudin, PhD adalah Prof. Gerhard A. Holzapfel, yang mengepalai Institut fur Biomekanik (https://www.biomech.tugraz.at/). Beliau adalah Adjunct Professor di NTNU, Norwegia dan Visiting Professor di University of Glasgow, UK. Beliau juga meraih dua medal penghargaan atas capaiannya di bidang Biomekanik.
