Department of Industrial Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Vocational Studies, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya held an international guest lecture entitled “Artificial Intelligence: Agriculture Leveraging Technology for Sustainable Farming” on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. This activity aims to provide insight to students regarding the application of artificial intelligence (Artificial Intelligence) in the sustainable agricultural sector.
In this guest lecture, Mr. Md Parvez Islam PhD, a Lecturer from Ehime University (Matsuyama, Japan) was present as a resource person. The guest lecture began with singing the song Indonesia Raya and the ITS hymn and remarks from Prof. Dr. Wahyu Wibowo, S.Si., M.Si. as the Dean of the Faculty of Vocational Studies, and Dr. Atria Pradityana, S.T. M.T. as the Head of the Department of Industrial Mechanical Engineering. Before entering the main session, the event moderator, Mr. Mashuri, S.T., M.T., read out the CV of the resource person to introduce his background and academic achievements.
In the main session, the resource person presented the material and explained how Artificial Intelligence can be utilized to improve agricultural efficiency, optimize resource use, and support the sustainability of the agricultural sector in various countries, including Indonesia.
In the final session of the guest lecture, the resource person gave students the opportunity to ask questions and was greeted enthusiastically by the students. The event was closed with the giving of souvenirs by Department of Industrial Mechanical Engineering to the resource person and a group photo session.
