Pineapple Leaf Fiber Yarn Manufacturing Technology for Creative Craft Industry Raw Materials to Improve the Welfare of the Satak Village Community, Kediri Regency

The location of Pengabdian Masyarakat (Abmas) is carried out in Satak Village, Puncu District, Kediri Regency. Time for Community Service is carried out from March 2022 to December 2022.
Satak Village, Puncu District, Kediri Regency, located at the foot of Mount Kelud in East Java Province, is a producer of quite a lot of pineapples with quite a lot of pineapple clumps. Pineapple plantations are highly utilized by pineapple farmers as a source of income. In the harvest season, pineapples produce by-products in the form of pineapple leaf waste. Because, pineapple leaf waste cannot be used by farmers for animal feed, so farming communities usually only burn pineapple leaf waste which can cause air pollution. The impact of smoke generated from the combustion process is mostly left unattended.
Even though the availability of pineapple leaves is quite a lot, the farming community still does not use / know the post-harvest pineapple leaf processing techniques optimally to produce products with high economic value. Through the application of appropriate technology which is a simple and inexpensive technology, the problem of pineapple leaf waste can be resolved, and of course it will provide added value in increasing the economic value of pineapple farming communities.
The technology to be applied is processing extracted pineapple leaves to produce crude fiber using a mechanical extractor as a raw material for making composites and textiles, after going through a degumming and cutting process.
Processing of fiber from fresh pineapple leaves through a mechanical extraction process produces tow fiber which still contains gum. The crude fiber produced is still not able to be used to produce products in the next process. To produce a better fiber in the form of fine fiber (staple fiber), the coarse fiber that still contains gum must be removed. So that the solution to the problem that must be done is to carry out the process of removing the gum content contained in the crude fiber to produce fine fiber (staple fiber). The resulting fine fibers are then continued to produce yarn products and continued to bag products.
On April 13, 2022 it was completed in the manufacture of the single spinning device. The individual fibers are spun using the single spinning method and also the manufacture of a pineapple leaf fiber opening tool which is used in the process of opening fiber bundles which aims to break down the fibers into individual fibers.
