Application of the “AKHOYA” Porang Noodle Dryer Machine for KPHR (People’s Forest Management Group) Leden Hamlet, Rejosari Village, Bantur District, Malang Regency

2020

The Community Forest Management Group (KPHR) is one of the forest management groups located in Ledeng Hamlet, Rejosari Village, Bantur District, Malang. This group has long pioneered the porang commodity. Porang is a type of tuber plant that can live well under large trees. Porang tubers if processed into porang flour and taken glucomannan can be an additional ingredient in various processed foods such as ice cream, meatball noodles, sticks, and lunkhead. There is one product that will be developed, namely the porang noodle product, considering that this product is still in wet form. The KPHR community wants to make dried porang noodle products so that this product can last longer so that the marketing area is further away. Therefore, it is necessary to design a drying machine that is suitable for porang noodles.
So the ITS ABDIMAS Team helped to produce a porang noodle dryer with a cabinet model with an adjustable capacity, using heat from lpg fuel using the direct heat method, the dryer is equipped with a temperature measuring device so there is an opportunity to adjust the heat source. Operational assistance is also provided, and the community can produce dried porang noodles that are ready to be marketed.
The next plan is to monitor and monitor activities for the processing of dried porang noodles and also porang-based food processing. Considering that porang flour is still unable to produce independently, it is currently being planned and appropriate technology machines will be realized in producing porang flour, namely flour machines and machines for reducing calcium oxalate.
