The Fourth Industrial Revolution, popularly referred to as Industry 4.0, is the term used to describe the present trend in manufacturing technologies toward automation and data interchange. It builds on the earlier industrial revolutions’ foundation, which saw substantial progress in industry, technology, and agriculture. Industry 4.0, on the other hand, denotes a new stage of change marked by the fusion of technologies like cloud computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), and cyber-physical systems. In the upcoming years, it is anticipated that these developments will significantly influence economic growth and change since they can completely transform the way we live and work.
To support the changes of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) through the Directorate of Research and Community Service supports research with physical facilities for interdisciplinary research. For example is the Manufacturing, Transportation, and Logistics research center. This research center is a combination of several departments such as Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, etc. With the collaboration for Interdisciplinary Research, several results can be directly used by several organizations such as the Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Research & Technology, Sidoarjo Region, Railway Industry, Ministry of Marine Affairs & Fisheries, etc. Therefore, ITS strives to increase facilities for Interdisciplinary Research that will be useful for society both now and in the future.
For physical facilities for interdisciplinary research amongst science. Because ITS is a STEM-focused Public University, there are many research centers devoted to it, especially for interdisciplinary research among science disciplines.
