The world is changing rapidly in terms of economy, technology, and information. Indonesia continues to enhance its economy, education, and technological advancements, with research playing a crucial role in national development. Research outcomes not only contribute to education and industrial innovation but also drive progress toward global competitiveness. Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), through the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DRPM), actively supports this growth by fostering interdisciplinary research that integrates expertise across faculties, research centers, and industry partnerships.
To strengthen its research ecosystem, ITS has established two strategic research schemes: Flagship Research and Collaboration Research Programs, both designed to promote multidisciplinary and consortium-based research with high societal impact. These initiatives focus on intelligent transportation, healthcare, industry, environment, and entrepreneurship, ensuring that research aligns with Industry 4.0 and national innovation priorities. Additionally, ITS supports eight bottom-up research schemes, including Institutional Development Research and Partnership Research, to encourage broader faculty and student participation.
ITS measures the success of interdisciplinary research through Scopus-indexed publications (Q1-Q2), patents, industry collaborations, and national and international research partnerships. The university also integrates research with postgraduate education, ensuring that students actively contribute to solving real-world problems. To expand research networks, ITS collaborates with Indonesian Collaborative Research (RKI), Inter-University Research Cooperation (PAKERTI), and global funding programs such as LPDP, USAID, and JICA. Research activities are managed through SIMPEL ITS, a digital platform that streamlines proposal submission, evaluation, and reporting.
Through these structured measures, ITS reinforces its position as a world-class research university, producing innovations that address national and global challenges while accelerating progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
